Funnies

Keeping students on task is one of the most challenging aspects of a teacher's job.  Getting them to do their work in the first place is part of that challenge.  Here are a few funnies from the last couple of days:

First Scenario:  Two seniors sitting in the computer area.

Me:  School computers are for schoolwork only.  What are you working on?
Student:  Relaxing.
Me:  That's not going to cut it.  (to another student)  What are you doing?
Other Student:  Nothing.
Me:  (Gives the "Lynch Look" / Death Glare)
First Student:  You know, it would be a lot better for everyone if you wouldn't judge us. . .

Second Scenario:  A class of Junior English.

Me:  Okay.  You're each going to read your part of the poem out loud.
Student:  Do we have to stand up?
Me:  Yes.  You have to stand.
Another Student: Ms. Lynch, this isn't P.E..

I really do love my job! :-)

Why Don't They Label All Books as Easy?

So we are now into the second semester, and I have survived.  I have learned a lot and am ready to learn a lot more.  A new high school library aide began today, and he is getting lessons in how to shelve books.  Discovering the "E" (Easy) section stumped him.  His question: "Why don't they label all books as easy?  I would read a whole lot more!"
